ROBINHOOD SUPERSPEC 2005 "The Begining"

COLLECTION DAY OCTOBER 2005...

Arrived at the factory in Mansfield woodhouse and of course it started to rain.We were armed with an old transit a car trailer and a roll of blue rope, no worries we thought. The deal was done money paid and we were ready to accept the kit...

Well we thought we were ready until they wheeled the kit out... We had no idea where it was all going to go! Oh well at least we had to RH employees to help. Oh where have they gone obviously don’t like the rain. We had been issued a check list from the office but this made absolutely no sense to us. Thankfully our two helpers reappeared and started handing us precut bits of stainless and saying things like "crescents, pedal box covers, brake switch plate" etc...etc...

Well it all went in and off we set on our four hour trip home… Even more rain. The next day when we unloaded we realised our first mistake, we should have taken a marker pen or stickers to label panels as they were given to us because we didn’t have a clue what half of them were... Thanks to a digital camera and the chaps at RHOCAR we have them all sorted (we hope).

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2005

The first job was to grind off all the welds and weld splatter. We then used ten cans off red oxide and satin black aerosols to protect the chassis during the build stages..We then retired to the warmth of the house to watch the comprehensive build D.V.D's supplied by Robin Hood.. After about an hour we realised that these D.V.D's had very little if anything to do with the kit we had bought..First thing next day we were on the phone to RH only to be told that is the only D.V.D they do.. Oh well in for a penny in for a pound..Threw the D.V.D's in the bin and started the build...

The front suspension went on.. and then came off.. went back on.. came off.. i think you get the idea.. Thanks again to the guys at RHOCAR we think we have the front just about sorted...

REAR OF THE CAR

RH supplies a perfectly good donor rear axle with the big drums all nice and clean... lucky it was clean so we didnt get our hands dirty when we threw it away... We were lucky enough to find a complete cosworth back axle including l.s.d locally this was quite a straight forward swap, apart from the extra brake pipes and hand brake cable alterations...
